Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry is concerned with the appearance of teeth and the enhancement of a person's smile. From subtle changes to major repairs, our team can perform a variety of procedures to improve your smile. During the consultation, you will be asked to describe your wishes prior to a thorough examination. Complex cases would also require impressions to allow the dentist to prepare a wax up (mock up) of the proposed treatment outcome and to allow you to see the planned result before the treatment starts. Software programmes such as Smile Design are also occasionally used to help visualise the result.

There are many techniques and options to treat teeth that are discoloured, chipped or missing. We can reshape your teeth, close spaces, restore worn or short teeth or alter the length of your teeth. Missing teeth may be replaced with implants or adhesive bridges (rarely conventional bridges as they are quite damaging). Other common cosmetic procedures include bleaching, veneers and orthodontics.

Veneers are thin facings of porcelain, fabricated after the tooth or teeth are minimally prepared by the dentist. They are then fixed onto the tooth with a special ‘dental glue’.
When a tooth is severely damaged and requires a large filling, the dentist may offer a crown to restore the tooth. Commonly called caps, there are various crowns available to choose from.
